Director’s of the off-season Championship Dual events would like to thank all those who participated in 2009 and Invite programs to consider the 2010 dates. Positive adjustments have been made such as eligibility based on Grade during the 2009-2010 school year and weight class adjustments that are consistent with each tournament. Be sure to check out the website for additional events & locations to be added to the 2010 schedule.

 

2009 Dual Meet Events

 

 

 

READY SET, WRESTLE - October, 2009

The Final Field of Teams are set for the October 18th Boder Wars Fall Dual Championships at Lowell, Michigan.

The Border Wars Tournament Staff are pleased to announce the Pool assigments for the 10 Team event and have established 6 Dual Matches for each team. Pool Winners and placers will do a straight crossover for the Championship and Placement final round. The action will continue the entire day as bye round teams are assigned crossover exhibition duals that will not effect pool placement . Each team participating will receive 6 Dual Matches.

National Teams assigned to the Green Pool are 1. Dearborn Heights WC (MI) - 2. Hartland WC - (MI) - 3. Michigan Elite WC (MI) - 4. All-American WC (PA) - 5. The Wrestling Club (OH) with the following Teams assigned to the Red Pool include 1. Northville WC (MI) - 2. Mat Sharks WC (OH) - 3. Team G2 (IL) - 4. Team MYWA (MI) - 5. Flat River WC (MI)

Teams are reminded that weigh-ins are Saturday at 7:00 - 8:00 pm and Sunday Morning 8:00 - 8:30 am. 

All teams will begin wrestling at 9:30 am and the Championship Finals between 5:30 & 6:00 pm.

 

 

FALL DUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS LOOK VERY PROMISING - October, 2009
Get ready to strap it up for the first ever Border Wars Fall Dual Championships as some of the best from the Midwest journey back to Lowell, Michigan for another go around of Championship Club Team Duals action.

Lowell High School Gymnasium will be the setting only this time the fall foilage will be in full color, football will be two thirds over, and all the talk will be everyone's Pre-Season Wrestling Rankings. This has all the signs of a great weekend of wrestling with Pool style format, comments Tournament Director Rob Stehley, adding no matter what time of the year that  you can capture teams from Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania in a Team contest your gonna have something special.

The first year event is expected to draw a dozen of the Top Midwest Clubs and although some might be missing the lineup because of High School GridIron comittments, the Coaches are really pumped up about the caliber of wrestlers filling the rosters. Be sure sure to visit the Duals page over the next few weeks as the complete field of teams will be released, tournament preview and potential key matches. The date is October 18th and wrestling starts at 9:30 am at Lowell High School, Michigan for the 2009 Border Wars Fall Dual Championships.

 

 

TALENT RUNS DEEP AT THE GRAND RIVER RUMBLE - August, 2009

For the Top Midwest Wrestlers is dosent take a 1200 mile journey to figure out that this Region of the Country runs very deep in talent. Many of the best wrestlers, coaches and fans met on a collision course at this years Grand River Rumble Summer Duals Championship that turned the spacious Lowell High School Gym into an intense and electrified atmosphere. At the end of the day it was a coouple of strong Michigan lienups Flat River WC and MX Wrestling alonside power state clubs All-American of Pennsylvania and Lifestyle WC of Illinois in the Final 4.

Flat River WC based in Lowell, the lineup of National Caliber Michigan young men, were put to test as they prevailed the 2009 Tournament Champions.  Club Director Dave Dean spoke about the depth of talented wrestlers that continue to show up at the Summer Duals as interviewers discussed the Flat River lineup.  Pennsylvania All-American Coach Rob Waller continues to bring his Camp Team back as he acknowledges that the competition is high caliber and that's what they are looking for to become better wrestlers. Overall the 2009 Grand River Rumble hosted 26 Teams with excting matches in both High School and Middle School Divisions. There will be a venue change as the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek will host the 2010 Rumble on Sunday August 1st.

 

 

 

NORTHERN EXPOSURE DUALS WRAP - June 22, 2009
This past weekend in the Far-North of Michigan.  Lots of wrestling and great weather provided a perfect setting for the 2009 Northern Exposure Duals.  The Flat River WC took home the crown in the Middle School Division and Mishawaka out of Indiana captured the High School Division titile.  Check out the Blog for an update of the event as well as the coverage section for videos and results.
